Elizabeth Tumlinson married William P. Taylor on March 4, 1830 in Gonzales County, Texas. Her brother, Joe Tumlinson, would marry William's sister, JohannaTaylor in 1834. Although the Tumlinson's would come to align with the Sutton party against the Taylor's during the Taylor-Sutton Feud, there was no animosity amoung the two families during the marriage. When the killings begin in the Taylor-Sutton Feud, Elizabeth Tumlinson was moved from the area to Junction in Kimble County to distance her from its cruelties, according to family legend. Her son Buck Taylor was killed on Christmas Eve 1868 with cousin Dick Chisolm and is believed by many to be the beginning of the Taylor-Sutton Feud. |
