Henry Jackson Young was born on November 22, 1829, the son of Robert Young and Margaret Hoke. Robert enlisted in the 26 th Battilion of Virginia in the Civil War. He was captured in the Battle of Lewisburg, West Virginia in May 1862 and records show he was a Private for the Confederates.
