James Blankenship was the third son of Ralph and Martha Blankenship. He was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia and married his wife Mary. James was a large planter like his father. When he died in 1748, he left plantations to several sons, Drury, Joel and Fore, and his daughter Ann.
