Donald B. Rust was a Pilot in WW 2 that had targets in Romania and oil refineries mostly. He first went to Africa, then the Bomb Group went
to Southern Italy in the countryside at Pantenella, Italy, where the US built quite a base and air strips and landings. His plane was named the Southern Comfort and he was blessed to live and receive a Distinguished Air Medal of Honor and the Flying Cross Medal.
