Paul Burer enlisted in the National Guard on 18 Mar 1916 and served in CO E 3 Infantry ONG (Co E 148 Infantry) to 14 Aug 1918. HQ Company 148 Infantry as a Private, First Class. Promoted 5 Nov 1917 to Lance Corporal. He served in World War I at Meuse-Argonne, Ypres-Lys, Defensive Sector and with American Expeditionary Forces from 23 Jun 1918 to 23 Mar 1919. He was honorably discharged on 21 Apr 1919.
